Nigella or Black Onion Seeds (Kalonji/Kalo Jeera)

Black onion seeds also known as Nigella come from the Buttercup family with blue or white flowers. They are black small triangular-shaped seeds with an earthy and peppery flavour. In India, dry-roasted nigella seeds are used to flavour dal, vegetables, pickles, and fish curry. They are also used in the dough such as naan, samosa etc. They have lots of health benefits and healing properties, used for medicinal purpose in Ayurvedic medicine.
