Cuisine: China

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Keemun black tea
  • 250ml water

Method

  1. Heat water to a boil (100°C). If you have an electric kettle, even better.
  2. Place 1-2 teaspoons of tea in a teapot with a filter or an infuser.
  3. Pour the hot water over the tea, cover the teapot, and let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Serve and enjoy. You can sweeten it if you like, though its natural flavor is delicious on its own.

Notes

  • Water temperature: For green and delicate teas, use water between 70°C and 90°C. For black, aged, or oolong teas, boiling water is ideal.
  • Tea-to-water ratio: The standard is 1 teaspoon of tea per 250 ml of water, but you can adjust it to your taste.
  • Water quality: Use filtered or low-mineral water. Hard water can alter the flavor.
  • Steeping time: 3-5 minutes is enough for a balanced tea. Any longer, and it may become bitter.
